FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Resonate and Viasec Partner to Provide Highly Available and Secure E-Mail

Boston, Massachusetts (January 17, 2001) — Today, Resonate (NASDAQ: RSNT), the leading provider of Internet Services Management (iSM) solutions and Viasec Inc., the leading provider of software for securing e-mail communications over the Internet, announced a partnership to deliver a highly secure and scalable messaging solution. The initiative combines powerful encryption and digital certificate capabilities present in Viasec's Consus™ Secure E-mail Gateway, with proven, sophisticated traffic management and service level control software in Resonate Central Dispatch™ to reinforce and extend the scalability and fault tolerance of the Viasec solution. Resonate Central Dispatch is a key component of the Resonate iSM platform, the first and only complete solution that integrates system, application and traffic management technology to intelligently monitor and take policy-based, real-time corrective action across all aspects of the infrastructure.

Viasec Consus™ and Resonate Central Dispatch are leading solutions for a wide variety of industries including application service providers (ASPs), financial services, government, healthcare, insurance, legal, manufacturing and supply chain. Viasec Consus is the Secure E-Mail Gateway that protects and secures E-mail sent outside of the local network via the Internet. Resonate Central Dispatch provides consistent, reliable availability and performance by enabling multiple IP-based servers clustered on a LAN to act as a single, scalable and easily managed system. Through software agents resident on every server, Resonate Central Dispatch monitors a system's health and availability, then directs user requests to the server best able to maximize service levels.

By integrating these leading products, customers can deploy a platform that provides a trusted mechanism for securing and managing the electronic credentials and digital signatures of business partners while providing service level control, to ensure that e-mail traffic flows at an even pace between servers. On the Internet, the security of knowing you can send confidential information during peak hours without mail back-ups or server overloads is crucial to creating secure and reliable communications.

"This partnership extends the scalability of our Consus™ e-mail privacy solution and delivers new benefits to our customers, " said Art Quirk, Sr. Vice President, Marketing and Sales at Viasec. He added, "As we penetrate new markets, Resonate's distributed software technology will help us deliver the highest levels of availability and ensure efficient distribution of our customer's growing volumes of e-mail traffic."

"The availability and security of an e-business' E-mail system is mission-critical to success, " said Karen Styres, Vice President of Marketing at Resonate. "Resonate's partnership with Viasec brings two leading solutions together to provide instant assurance of a bullet-proof E-mail system."
