FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Resonate's Market Leading Global Traffic Management Technology Licensed by Extreme Networks SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 22, 2002 Resonate Inc. (NASDAQ: RSNT), the leading provider of active service level management solutions for e-business applications, today announced that it has entered into an OEM agreement with Extreme Networks, Inc., (Nasdaq: EXTR), a leader in Ethernet networking. Under the agreement, Extreme Networks is licensing Resonate's intelligent WAN-based traffic management product, Resonate Global Dispatch. Resonate Global Dispatch ensures optimized response times and the highest uptime of geographically dispersed applications. It provides automated disaster recovery by continuously monitoring all data centers for failures and immediately routing user requests to the most available site. Resonate Global Dispatch utilizes site and network performance metrics, including network delays, server activity and service availability, to determine which site can respond to a request most quickly and reliably at any given time. It then routes the request to the best data center, improving the user's experience. All of this is done automatically and in real-time. "Disaster recovery and global redundancy have always been essential for customers, but even more so recently, " said Duncan Potter, vice president of product management at Extreme Networks. "By integrating Resonate's technology, we are able to offer our customers the ensured uptime and performance of globally dispersed applications." Global Dispatch is a proven best-of-breed tool used today to run many complex and mission critical e-business applications. Leading enterprises like Bank of America, Charles Schwab, DoubleClick and Standard and Poor's rely on Global Dispatch to enable the rapid and reliable delivery of services on a non-stop basis. Global Dispatch's group-level personalization functionality and directed traffic tables give enterprises the flexibility to direct users to specific servers and applications for tailored content or to reduce WAN charges. Users can be routed to the most applicable content, personalizing and enhancing their experience. For example, a request originating in Osaka, Japan, will be automatically routed to the Tokyo POP instead of one in Sydney. The user will see content created specifically for the Japanese market. Additionally, for corporate intranets, enterprises can save money by routing traffic to the site with the lowest WAN costs. "Running e-business applications over a network from multiple locations is a must-have for many businesses, " said David Guercio, vice president of sales and services, Americas at Resonate. "Extreme Networks and Resonate are working together to ensure that those applications are available from any location and at any time."
