FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CHEP Selects Resonate To Deliver Capacity-On-Demand For Online Ordering and Tracking Application SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 16, 2002 SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 16, 2002 - Resonate Inc. (NASDAQ: RSNT), the provider of award-winning service level management solutions for IP-based applications, today announced that CHEP, the world leader in equipment pooling systems, has selected Resonate® solutions to provide increased availability and performance of its online order and tracking application. CHEP's Portfolio service allows customers to order CHEP pallets and containers and report equipment movements. Leveraging Resonate's market-leading software traffic management products, Resonate Central Dispatch, a LAN-based traffic management product and Resonate Global Dispatch, a WAN-based traffic management product, CHEP is able to ensure consistent uptime and performance of the Portfolio service even during peak usage. "We identified a solution that is able to balance the connectivity requirements of high customer utilization at two separate levels - both WAN and LAN, " said Chase Chastain, VP of Global Infrastructure at CHEP. "For accessing Portfolio via the internet, Resonate Global Dispatch ensures the best connectivity between our dispersed server portals. At our central web-server farm, Resonate Central Dispatch ensures proper load balancing across our servers for optimal application performance. Resonate's traffic management solution helps us provide the best web experience for our Portfolio customers." Resonate Central Dispatch software agents collect fine-grained detail such as CPU load and memory utilization to determine server health. Resonate Central Dispatch software solution scales as e-business applications grow, requiring no changes in existing hardware investments. When CHEP needs to add servers to its e-business infrastructure, Resonate software leverages the additional servers' processors for increased performance. Resonate Global Dispatch software enables multiple, dispersed points of presence (POPs) to act as a single, highly available system and directs user requests to the site best able to maximize service levels. Global Dispatch can also direct intranet users to the POP closest to their location to minimize WAN costs. "We are pleased CHEP is able to take advantage of our unique software traffic management capabilities that leverage the insight we have into server health and application usage, " said David Guercio, vice president of Sales and Services at Resonate. "Using this knowledge from our software agents, our solutions are able to make smarter and more granular traffic management decisions that have an immediate and positive impact on the end-user experience for CHEP's mission critical services."
