The Tells of NY Gamblers

Could the Big Apple be the next Sin City? On November 5, 2013, New Yorkers state-wide will vote on the legalization of full-service casinos.

Currently, casino gambling is contained to only Indian reservations in upstate New York. Additionally, several race tracks are dispersed throughout the state. However, if passed, this new measure would welcome 7 new all-inclusive casinos to areas external to Indian reservations.

The issue is quite the divisive one. Casinos are notoriously recognized as meccas of crime, addiction and hedonism – a matter of concern for many citizens.  But others contest that casinos may be the perfect remedy to job insecurity and state debt.

Whether or not the amendment passes, Resonate decided to take a behind-the-scenes look at New York gamblers who may or may not be coming soon to a neighborhood near you.
