John Brady, Chairman. For the last two decades, John Brady has founded, operated, invested in and advised a number of highly successful marketing services and communications companies. These companies include The Direct Impact Company (which was sold to Young & Rubicam in 1999), DDC Advocacy, TARP Worldwide and Fishbowl. In addition to his business activities, John is an active supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
A proven business leader, Bryan Gernert has led businesses through periods of significant transformation and growth. He has applied his management expertise to businesses in several industries, with emphasis on information technology and services. Before joining Resonate, Bryan served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Americas for Cybertrust. In the five-year period leading up to the sale of Cybertrust to Verizon for approximately $500 million, Bryan’s region more than doubled its annual revenues from $36 million to $80 million. He was an instrumental player on the executive team that orchestrated, negotiated and completed the transaction with Verizon. Previously, at Digex, Incorporated, a global web hosting and managed services provider, Bryan grew a start-up company into a business with an annual revenue run rate of $240 million. During his tenure, he helped Digex raise over $1.3 billion through an IPO and secondary offering and was part of the team that sold Digex to WorldCom in a $5.7 billion transaction. Bryan has also held management positions with Evergreen Information Technologies and RCI.
An entrepreneur with a keen eye for integrating data and technology, Sara Fagen is one of the nation’s leading political and issue strategists. Sara offers considerable insight and expertise to some of the world’s most influential brands, corporations and trade associations. She is adept at helping clients leverage the full potential of technology, politics and communications to achieve results with efficiency and to maximize their marketing and advocacy dollars. Sara honed her skills while serving as a senior aide and White House Political Director for President George W. Bush. She also played a pivotal part in the President’s 2004 re-election campaign, in which she served as a senior strategist directing opinion research and paid media. After the campaign, the The Wall Street Journal called her a “data whiz,” saying, “As a top strategist for the 2004 Bush-Cheney re-election efforts, Fagen helped perfect political micro-targeting.” Sara became a partner at DDC Advocacy in 2011 after the company acquired BlueFront Strategies, a prominent issue advocacy firm she founded in 2008. Sara now creates customized strategies for the firm’s clients, integrating cutting-edge targeting and other data-driven approaches to help them win on the issues that are important to them. In 2008, Sara co-founded Resonate Insights, a leading big data audience insights and media company. She also serves on the board of CentraForce, a cross-media research company revolutionizing how audiences are defined, reached and brought to the point of action. Sara’s commentary can be seen on CNBC where she is a regular contributor.
David Bell, Operating Advisor, Pegasus Capital Advisors, has over 40 years of experience in the marketing communications sector. He is Chairman Emeritus and previously served as Chairman and CEO of The Interpublic Group, Inc., one of the world’s largest marketing communications service companies. David previously held the positions of Chairman and CEO of True North Communications Inc., the world’s sixth largest global advertising and marketing communications holding company. He was also President and CEO of Bozell Worldwide, where he helped grow the agency from $12 million to over $500 million in revenues. Prior to that, he was President of Knox Reeves Advertising, which was acquired by Bozell. In his career, David has served virtually every kind of industry, from automotive and financial services to consumer packaged goods and business-to-business. He serves the industry as Past Chairman of The Advertising Council, The American Advertising Federation, The Advertising Educational Foundation and The American Association of Advertising Agencies. David was inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame by his peers in March 2007. He is an independent Director of Warnaco, Primedia and Lighting Science Group Corporation. For 4 ½ years David was a Senior Advisor with Google, a position that he now holds at AOL.
Ted Leonsis, Co-Founder, Revolution Growth Fund, brings more than two decades of digital media and global Internet service experience. He is a nationally renowned entrepreneur, investor and business-builder who sits on the Boards of Directors of leading companies, ranging from American Express to Groupon. Ted spent 13 years working closely with Steve Case to build AOL into the world’s leading and most recognized Internet company. While at AOL, he oversaw the acquisition and integration of Advertising.com, one of the company’s most significant acquisitions in the advertising space.
Ian Sigalaw, Partner, Greycroft LLC. Ian’s investment focus includes advertising technology, internet software and mobile services. He currently serves or observes on the boards of Greycroft’s investments in Buddy Media, Buzzd, Collective, CrowdFusion, Extreme Reach, MarketBright, OggiFinogi, Panvidea, Tynt and Vizu. Ian previously invested in and advised several companies, including Airpath Wireless (acquired by Aptilo) and SensorLogic. Prior to joining Greycroft, Ian founded StrongData Corporation, a pioneer in digital encryption, and spent several years as a venture capitalist with Boston Millennia Partners, where he focused on early stage companies in the software and Internet sectors. Ian’s past experience also includes investment banking in the technology group at Donaldson, Lufkin, and Jenrette and strategy consulting with the Arnold Business Strategy Group. Ian holds a BS in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
Lynda Clarizio joined Nielsen in August 2013 as President, U.S. Media. She is responsible for leading the performance of Nielsen’s Watch business in the United States, including managing the U.S. teams supporting Nielsen’s media clients across national and local television, digital and other media. Lynda has spent the last 15 years as a successful executive in the media industry growing and scaling advertising businesses. Prior to Nielsen, she was the Executive Vice President for corporate development and operations at AppNexus, which operates one of the industry’s fastest growing platforms for the buying and selling of digital advertising through real-time bidding. Before joining AppNexus, Lynda was CEO and President of INVISION, Inc. from 2009 through 2012. INVISION is a leading provider of multi-platform advertising solutions to the media industry. Lynda came to INVISION after a decade long career at AOL, which she joined in 1999. Lynda served as President of AOL’s consolidated advertising businesses, then called Platform-A. Prior to joining AOL, Lynda was a partner in the leading Washington, DC law firm Arnold & Porter, where she practiced law from 1987 through 1999. Lynda is a recognized leader in advertising and media, having been named one of 2011’s top 100 “Tech Titans” in the Washington, DC region by The Washingtonian, one of 2009’s “25 Executives to Watch in Digital Entertainment” by Digital Media Wire, and one of 2008’s “Women to Watch” by Advertising Age. She also was selected one of 1998’s “Top 40 Lawyers Under 40” by The Washingtonian. Lynda is a 1985 graduate of Harvard Law School and a 1982 graduate of Princeton University.
